Quote of the Month - June 2006:

"I'm moving to the tropics" - Nugget [9.9.2005]

Starting today, Fridays will now be Tropics Appreciation Day. Join me in celebration.

[an excerpt]

My apologies for being sporadic in my postings - a lot has been going on. I will definitely be sharing some of the fun details and drunken pictures of the MilChic Summer Gig 2006 in the very near future. For now, I would like to share this - an excerpt:

On behalf of the Corcoran, I am pleased to inform you that the Admissions Committee has unanimously accepted your application for admission to the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program. Your artistic and academic achievements have earned you a position as a Sophomore in the Graphic Design program at the Corcoran College of Art + Design for the Fall Semester of 2006.

[insert: GIANT HUGE AMAZINGLY HUGE SMILE]

And you know what this means. Change, my friends. Change. The shedding of all things old and annoying. The registering for all things new and exciting. The concept of being a full-time student once again is so strange and wonderful. I am a ball of energy. Simply. Cannot. Wait.

Thank you for the positivity, support and encouragement. As Polexia Aphrodisia from Almost Famous would say, "It's all happening!"

Happy Friday!

[i'm still alive...]

Dearest MarotiCATS,

I write to you at 4 a.m. on Sunday from my friend Mahoney's kickass condo. I am sipping a delightful margarita and we are playing a game called Dirty Minds and let me tell you...it is funny. Quote of the night: "But a shoe can be long and supple"...(says The Boyfriend)....'nuff said! Good times! We are planning on staying awake for another hour so we can walk down to Lake Michigan and watch the sunrise.

This evening was spent with myself, Mahoney and The Boyfriend dining atop the 95th floor of the John Hancock building (decadent!) viewing the entire Chicago area. We ate beef filets with red wine, garlic potatoes, prosciutto and fresh mozzarella with pesto, and amazing dirty martinis! Oh - and that bottle of Italian wine (chao - Geelite!).

The PETTY CONCERT WAS AMAZING. I have officially seen Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers 3 times in Milwaukee and it was the best show by far! He played only one new song with the rest being oldies.
  1. Free Falling
  2. American Girl (joined by Eddie Vedder)
  3. Handle With Care (Traveling Wilburys tune)
  4. Keep On Rocking In The Free World (Neil Young cover - my fave!)
  5. Honey Bee
  6. You Wreck Me
  7. You Don't Know How It Feels
  8. Good To Be King
  9. Won't Back Down
  10. Listen To Her Heart
  11. Mary Jane's Last Dance
  12. The Waiting (with Eddie again!)
  13. Don't Come Around Here No More

There were so many good ones - these are the ones I remember!

Pearl Jam was kickass too, playing such awesome tunes as Daughter, Elderly Woman...., Alive, Evenflow, Jeremy, etc. They sounded amazing.

Well, pictures to come...I'm being rushed out the door to go catch that Chicago sunrise...

Have a great 4th!

Love, kristen

p.s. Shout out to tracie who is caring for our babies while we are away. They are SO loving her right now!
