[kittie kats]

Can you believe this face? For those of you have been reading, you know that I have two kitties, Charlie Bella and Roxie Tyla (the one in the bag)...and it's been a while since I showed some pics of their cutie pie faces. Having just helped the Shaadster adopt his new princess, Sayla Bleu (yes, I helped with the name)...I am in the mood to praise my darling kitties to the world like the proud mother I am.

Here's one of Charlie doing her typical back stretch with her daddy.

On the window sill...

And introducing....Sayla Bleu her Auntie Kristen

Sayla Bleu with her daddy...

Sayla with Jeneva....

...and cuddling with Tim, who made the adoption happen.

And that's enough cuteness for Saturday evening.

[i'm a cowboy, baby]

So it's been pretty exciting writing here again. I really want to continue with it, as it's such a great release for me and more importantly, keeps me in touch with all my favorite peeps. If I'm totally incompetent with the whole telephone and plans method of keeping in touch, at least for the time being, I can blog and we can comment back and forth. I want you guys to know that I love you so much and hate that we've lost touch since school started for me. I just ask that you bear with me, as all these changes continue to bring more changes to my life and I am just enjoying the ride. I am trying hard to juggle everything, and I'm slowly getting better.

Ok, enough of that. Now I'm going to share some fun pictures from the Anti-War Rally that took place on the National Mall a couple of weeks ago. It was a really good showing of people, old and young and of course I snapped a ton of pictures of all the creative signs and costumes. I just love to see people coming together like that. It's really inspiring.

Here are some samples of the best:

[This one above is my favorite!]

Fun, huh? Were you there?

[bad ass entry]

At long last the moment has come to share my fantastically bad ass entry with you.

On Monday night I went to an event for the Department of Peace at the Lisner Auditorium 2 blocks from my palace. Shaadi had dreams of making out with Steven Tyler (who was said to be making an appearance alongside Jaoquin Phoenix, Amy Smart, and several other celebrities...), and I had visions of Jaoquin dancing in my head. Tim didn't want to take any of them home and instead was just happy to catch a few celeb glimpses and enjoy the show.

The evening started with me and Shaadi firing up some Aerosmith, Big Ones and rockin' out as we cleaned the apartment and washed dishes to prepare for his potential one-nighter with a rock star. Next, we met up with Tim and walked over an hour early. As we stood in line, we laughed and told fairy tales about the stars we were about to see up close. It was thrilling. So thrilling, in fact, that I had to pay $2.00 dollars for some Reese's Peanut Butter cups while standing in line. It was like we were at the Grammy's, chillin' on the red carpet, enjoying life. Life couldn't get much better.

But oh no, wait! It did get better. Life got a whole lot better. The event started and Kristen, Tim and Shaadi were nestled safely in the 8th row, center stage. Could not have been more ideal for the viewing of Steven Tyler's oversized lips as they walked across that platform. And walk they did. Towards the end of the event, Steven was introduced and strutted out wearing kickass vertical striped black and white pants, a black t-shirt with a cool jacket over and jewelry....lots and lots of jewelry and pirate-style (my style) earrings and long bad ass hair. He looked amazing. AMAZING. I know, he had some botox or a facelift....but still. The man looked natural and radiant and quite handsome in real life. And his mouth, in fact, looked smaller than on the small screen. Weird, huh?

He sat on a wooden stool at the front of the stage and had a microphone stand before him. There was another man with him who played keyboards or acoustic guitar (and that was the only other sound aside from Stevie's voice). He was going to play for us.

The first of 3 songs played was "Don't Wanna Miss A Thing"...you know the one....Armeggedon soundtrack. Then he played "Pink", which was amazing seeing as that is one of the first songs I remember listening to with Shaadi when we first met, and it spawned the endless Kristen/Shaadi debate of whether that song is a declaration of Steven's homosexual tendencies. Who will ever know? Lastly, he play "Dream On" which is only one of the greatest rock songs that ever was. I could not believe it. We heard all the Steven sounds....those raspy high whispers, the yeah yeah yeahs, and we even got a rock 'n roll leg kick which was pretty spectacular.

By the time he started playing "Pink", Shaadi and I were running for the stage which until this point had 2 other people near dancing awkwardly but with a sweet energy. We stood directly in front of Mr. Tyler and we shared a moment. A real moment. He started at me as I sang his words and then he stared at Shaadi (who was now yelling that he lived nearby and we should all hang). We were starstruck! When it ended, he went backstage. And f*ck yeah, did we follow. Shaadi's Congressman acquaintance (who was involved in the event) walked passed us and Shaadi asked if we could come back and meet Steven.

AND DUDE SAID 'YES'.

So we hustled backstage and were greeted by Steven Tyler with warm handshakes and name introductions. He was so friendly and smiling and wonderful. We asked for a picture (cause you know I had that sh*t ready) and a professional camera standing nearby prepared for the pic. Steven grabbed me around the waste/stomach with his arms and pulled me in front of him (and close, I might add...very very close) and we all smiled for the pic. I immediately shouted, "with my camera too, please! My camera!" (something like that - high dramatics) and Steven made a joke, making fun of me and we all laughed and he held onto me for one more picture. Unfortunately, the shot was taken too close for my evidence to convince you, but behold, it is true. Steven Tyler grabbed me and hugged me and I'm going to start lying and tell people we're dating. Cause the photo is gooood.

So without further ado:

Left to Right: Tim, Kristen, Steven Tyler!, Congressman Kucinich, and Shaadi.

Now is that a bad ass entry, or what?

If updates are what you seek, updates are what you will get! Curious Observer, I want to welcome you and thank you for your comment. I guess since things have been so busy, I haven't properly filled you in. The Boyfriend and I have broken up very amicably and are continuing to live together with our kitties, our snickerdoodles. His title has transitioned from The Boyfriend into Tim, so if you see that, you'll know I'm talking about the same cool dude.

In regards to Geelite, and thank you for mentioning her, she and I have been chilling when we can and we definitely enjoy some quick lunches and ceramics visits. And, in fact, today is her 26th birthday!!!!! Soooooo.......

Happy Birthday Geefunk!

Hopefully this evening I will joining her for a birthday brew and some Wings Night....we'll see. I have class until 10 p.m. I so love Tuesday Night Wings Night.

I also have some really really really bad ass info to share with you maroticats out there. But, as I'm on my way out the door to grab some Potbelly's with some peeps (Jeneva and Todd), I will post a separate bad ass blog entry and call it Bad Ass Entry because God, is it ever!

ooooh, the supsense!!

[rockin' n' rollin']

Hello. I'm in class right now, in between critiques, and I just wanted to say hi to all my loyal readers (all three of you). How are you? Sounds like everyone has been really good, as Running Guru Fred is developing a marathon training program for the tri-state area, tracie is making her new house a home by purchasing a doggie (she's only been talking about it for 5 years!) and I have been busy with school. I am happy to say that I think my design sense is finally sharpening and I am starting to develop a better body of work. I hope my critique goes well this morning!

This weekend was spent doing homework and chilling with mostly Jeneva and Shaadi. It was a very relaxing and productive weekend. I worked my first solo-style shift at The Bertooch (that's Kristenese for Bertucci's) and I made 45 buckaroos on one of the slowest days ever. I had so much fun and it was one of those work shifts where you walk around with a smile on your face thinking god, I love waitressing. I came home and ate my chicken marsala with a huge sense of satisfaction. So great.

Last night, I also got to watch Borat. Have you seen it? Oh my god, it was so funny. Kick. Ass.

Shout out to Mahoney who will hopefully be journeying out to DC sometime this spring to say hello via shots of booze, endless beer and giddy laughter. Ahhhhh, I need that shiz. Keep rockin' the dysfunctionality girl....we need to get together and be dysfunctional in pairs.

What else do I have to say?

Been talking to Cedric lately and Shaadi and I are attempting to plan a weekend adventure to NYC. I would love to finally check out all those NY museums that I've never even been to. What kinda art student am I, anyway?!?! But yeah, planning on that soon because I just need my NY fix. And plus, it's just so inspirational! (And Cedric is pretty darn cool, too, if you ask me).

Right at this very moment, Shaadi is planning a trip to the TicketMaster in Marvin Center in hopes of getting $10 student tickets to a Peace Alliance thingie happening in Lisner Auditorium. Apparently, Steven Tyler and Joaquin Phoenix are making special appearances and keep your fingers crossed that not only do we get the tickets and get to chat with the two hotties, but also that Shaadi gets to bring Steven back to his apartment where we'll all party for a while and then get to watch those two cuties make out. God, that would be sweet. Best believe I will have my camera for that!

Well I should get back to class. Will try to post some of my work soon....look forward to hearing what you think! Take care and I will try to post more often to keep you in touch with Kristen Happenings of Spring 2007.

Rock this Monday. ROCK IT.
