[a wintry mix]

Today was a busy day.

I started out by waking up at 6 a.m. and getting dressed up in "professional" clothes for a design conference at the Embassy of Sweden (or some sort of building affiliated it). Believe it or not, I did dress professionally and wore black pants and a black sweater with my wrinkled high heel boots. No leopard prints or snake skin pants, thank you very much Nugget! I hopped on the shuttle and got off at the Georgetown Waterfront where I spotted my classmates and we headed on in. It was a pretty interesting event, although I was extremely disgruntled to find that there were no coffee and pastries in sight. What sort of conference was this anyway? I dealt with it, of course, and froze throughout the remainder of the event. Then I left to embrace warmer buildings and see some friends.

I stopped up to my old Office Box at The University and chilled with Hot Tamales for quite a while. It was nice to catch up with her and also, even stranger, to be in the old building, going up the old elevator and hitting '6' and hopping off and walking past the labs and the Maintenance Lady who also used to say hello and never ask how I was doing and to see the cinder block walls and the pale blue paint. Nothing changed. My office was occupied by a quiet girl in a pink blouse and my bulletin board was not even changed. The Office Plant that Old Boss had left was there on the sill and thriving. It was weird because it wasn't weird at all. It was a good visit. My first since leaving The University for the Wild Life of Art School.

I got some Thai food for lunch and had my usual waitress and tipped her well and had to keep getting up to close the door as people continuously left it open and let bursts of cold air hit my table section. I came home and napped and had dreams of marathons and strange men with accents and Tim cooking up all the Omaha Steaks, potatoes and chicken because he said it would be better that way. Then I came up to Shaadi's and hooked up his desktop computer and proved my handiness as a girl and then Tim came up and we all listened to Queen's " A Day At The Races" and rocked out to some "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy" and we fed Sayla cat nip and she rolled around and we all laughed.

Now I'm preparing to design some skateboards to meet Friday's deadline and I'm ready to go with my grapefruit juice and Ben & Jerry's Everything But The... in my stomach. Ahhh Sleven Runs.

Hope you had a great day. I will be crossing my fingers for snow and warm fuzzy feelings of being in the cozy apartment made cozier by the snow swept up on the windows with flannel pajamas on and afternoon trips to the vacant streets to kick up snow and see how tight the city streets become when everything is coated with a layer of thick wet snow. Wintry mix, I welcome you tonite.

It was (in K-punctuation) So. Good. To. See. You! ;-) Although quiet girl in a pink shirt is very sweet and nice...she IS quiet and it IS different without you here! I sometimes find myself walking into her office - giddy, silly, frustrated, whatever - and just going off because I desperately need to just talk and she smiles and nods patiently, with her fingers poised above her keyboard...and then I slowly turn around and slink back into my office and think to myself "Oops, I don't think she gets it." Haha. Anyhow - you look wonderful and you sound wonderful and I was very happy to see you! *hugs*

P.S. The wintry mix didn't come soon enough for me to avoid my 6:30 AM trek into the office. Boo.

I love cacooning on a cold winter's night with a glass of wine, a good book, and my sweetie! :)

Sorry I didn't write sooner to your comments, hot tamales...that's hilarious tho...I can totally picture me being in that position...walking in to bitch and be my retarded self and just getting a look of total confusion from the person who is replacing the old person i could be totally retarded with comfortably. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh man, some things never change. We're still as crazy as ever.

Thanks for the comment Fred...and for the emails....sorry I haven't responded yet...all I have to say is:

The Exorcism of Emily Rose was the SHIZ NIT. We need to have a scary movie marathon sometime before I die.
