[to be the freak that God made me...]

Oh, hello.

Sorry it's been a while. Figured it's time for an update! So my Syrian the Shaadster is in Jordan and then Syria for the next 6 weeks. What's a girl to do!? Jeneva went to the homebase in New Orleans and then onto Texas for family adventures. I miss her dearly! Rebecca went to NY for the weekend with Mike (oh, and yes...I adore Mike). No Rebecca means no white wine via heavy sloppy pours into my glass - sad sobriety. Okay. maybe not sober. Who am I kidding? I'm having a Dos Equis Amber as I type the word sobriety. Ha. I know I'm not fooling anyone. That aside...

Oh - have I mentioned lately that I am the newest bartending face of Bertucci's? It's true. Kristen is officially a BARTENDER! I love it! I am getting more and more comfortable behind the bar and have befriended many a golf-lover in a mere two days! Now I know all about a birdie and a boagie (spelling?) and can officially say that I'm in love with Tiger Woods. What a hot piece of man!

Have been staying in the Shaadster Palace while he is away and during this time Tim and I are figuring out our living arrangements for the upcoming months...I think we've settled on separate apartments at PoPark. We're handling things really well, I think. And this way, the snickerdoodles (aka Charlie and Roxie the cutest kitties en todo el mundo) will be able to see both of us in convenient fashion. No one ever tells you how hard joint custody is to figure out for the little pets that work their way into your hearts! Snugglebunnies!

Mostly I've been getting in touch with reality lately. It's been nice to be forced into a solitary situation and I've been able to enjoy the little things that Kristen has always loved but missed during this very challenging and busy year. Things like:

Cleaning the bathroom and organizing toiletries.
Dancing to Mis-Teeq and Kanye and Michael J in underware.
Sleeping in a giant bed and spreading the hell out.
Playing online scrabble (my newest addiction) without judgment.
Listening to KRS One without judgment!
Writing in the trusty journal.
Spending way to much time on facebook.
Sleeping in with no distractions.

I haven't turned on the t.v. to pop in a netflix in about a week and I've gotta say, it feels great. I have so been enjoying the sounds of silence, as my faves Simon and Garfunkel would say, with great pleasure. Do you know how great the song Sexual Revolution by Macy Gray is? Just a question. Seriously. She has the most amazing voice! Love it love it.

Here's a lyrical sample:

Everybody shake it.
Time to be free amongst yourselves.
Your mama told you to be discreet.
And keep your freak to yourself.

But your mama lied to you all this time.
She knows as well as you and I.
You've got to express what is taboo in you.
And share your freak with the rest of us.

Cause it's a beautiful thang.

(oh here comes the beat...)

This is my sexual revolution.....

Everybody break it.
Every rule every restriction.
My papa told me to be home by now
But my party has just begun.

Got to be the freak that God that me...

There may be things I want to try.
Gotta do them before I die!

God - how can a song with lyrics like that NOT be the shiz nit?

Fire up Macy!

Okay, on that note...I'm going to finish my beer and perhaps start some Art History reading for class tomorrow morning!

Love you guys!

Aw! Thanks girl! Hope you're doing well...saw your message - missin your man. I totally understand! Sounds like you're keeping busy! How is life in Connecticut? Yeah, the bartending is cool and the changes ahead are definitely going to be nice. This transition is difficult...and money, as always, is an issue...but yeah, got a buzz right now and am heading off with my girls Rebecca and Jeneva for a Trader Joe's adventure...should be fun! Let's def keep in touch and maybe when I head home to MA at some point I can stop by CT and say hello? See the new pad? I miss you girl:) Honestly, I'm so glad we're staying in touch. Escaping the rocky world of University reality has actually made our friendship much stronger...keep me updated chica! Saw Yolanda the other day on campus...she misses you! Love you and best of luck with everything! Going to try to keep updating more often! Miss ye olde blogaroo!
